To say that 2022 was a whirlwind of emotions would be an understatement. The Inn experienced many changes, most notably, the unfortunate losses of our cherished Ruby and Winston. While we went a little quiet, understandably, we still pushed on with our efforts. We are still rescuing and looking forward to everything that 2023 has to bring.
It wouldn’t be fair of us to celebrate the many accomplishments that 2022 brought without first paying respect to the two Inn members we lost – Ruby and Winston. Ruby joined us in 2020 and quickly became part of the pack. Although she was aged like fine wine, and only recently had an inkling of kidney trouble, she was healthy and in great spirits. Perhaps she left our physical world to go run the fields of doggy heaven with our beloved Mamma Mabel; they were the best of friends!
On the other hand, Winston was one of the only fosters we took this year because he was under a lot of stress due to his declining health. Although his health issues created a less-than-favorable environment for the rest of our pack, we had him for eight wonderful months before he crossed the rainbow bridge surrounded with love. We are confident that Mamma Mabel and Ruby greeted him with open paws and we have found solace knowing that he is no longer suffering.
On the bright side, the Inn raised $3,000 this year thanks to our loyal fans. For those of you that may just be learning about the Inn, we are a registered 501(c)(3), and that guarantees 100% of your donations go directly into a special bank account used specifically for the members of the Inn.
Your donations help with our boarding and vetting expenses, which can be costly as we cater specifically to senior and special needs dogs, which tend to require additional care. It usually costs in the ballpark of $10k to operate each year, so please know that every dollar you choose to donate is so appreciated and it counts as we often pay a majority of our expenses out-of-pocket. Our late Mamma Mabel and namesake would be so proud and we will continue to honor her legacy and the reason why we do what we do. Thank you for your continued support – now let’s see what 2023 has in store for us!
